Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms resume in September.

Wiggle Worms Story Time is perfect for ages 0 to 3 and their caregivers.  Join us every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m.  Enjoy stories, music, dancing, rhythm activities, and fingerplay, as little ones learn to love reading with people they love. (25 to 30 mins.)

Preschool Story Time sets the stage for Kindergarten with books, flannelboard stories, fingerplay, and music geared to children ages 3-6, and caregivers.  We will meet every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for fun and learning.  Please join us and get a jump on early education.

Our “Little Scientists” S.T.E.A.M. Program for ages from Kindergarten to 10 years old, will be on Wednesday, September 25, at 3:30 p.m.  Listen to a book, then explore the world of science with fun and interesting hands-on activities in our “science lab!”  Sparks will fly as we do some “Electric Learning!”  Sign-ups are required in advance, starting September 3.  Please call the Oakdale Library at 209-847-4204 for info.

Our September crafts will begin with Balloon Rockets.  Come by the Library on Tuesday, September 3, at 3:00 p.m. for a craft activity kids of all ages will enjoy.  The fun will be “flying” as balloons propel our straw rockets to awesome heights.

We will have two Lego Days this month.  Kids can create their own masterpieces using our fabulous Lego collection and we will display these great works in the Library.  The building fun begins at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5 and 19.

Our WEE MOVE AND PLAY program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Monday, September 9 and 23, at 11:00 a.m.  Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time.

Join us on Wednesday, September 18, at 3:00 p.m.  “Origami Folding Fun” for everyone will be “unfolding” as our craft activity.  Graceful little swans, a flexagon flying disc or ninja star, with multi-colored papers to choose or mix, each item will be as unique as the one who makes it.

Computer Classes for Adults are back.  Learn the basics of computer and internet in this small personal setting.  Computer Basics will be offered on Tuesday, September 24, at 10:30 a.m.  Please call the Library at 209-847-4204 for info and be sure to reserve your space.  Each session is limited to four people.

Also, if you are an adult interested in learning or improving in Microsoft Word, you will want to join our class on Thursday, September 26, at 6:00 p.m. Please call the Library to sign up.

Don’t miss our “Optical Illusion Spinner Craft!” on Tuesday, September 24 at 3:00 p.m.  Children will decorate cardboard discs, attach strings, and watch them spin in kaleidoscope fashion, changing before their eyes.

We will be hosting our ongoing Oakdale Library Book Club for Adults.  Join in to meet, mingle, and chat with other literature lovers.  Read and discover new books, genres, and authors.  Please stop by the Library now to sign out a copy of this month’s selection, then join us for a great discussion on Tuesday, September 24, at 11:30 a.m.  New members are always welcome.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our programs and prizes, for example, the wonderful bicycles given as prizes in our Children’s Summer Reading Program, and the great gift baskets and gift cards for our Adult Summer Reading Program winners.  They constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone.  The Friends will hold their monthly meeting on September 23, at 1:30 p.m.  Forms to join and info are available at the Oakdale Library, or call 209-847-4204.
