media

Students participating in the Stanislaus County Leadership Academy will meet on Friday, Feb. 2 for Media Day. Students will learn what media is from a local business, Never Boring Design, as well as the dangers of social media from the Modesto Police Department. The day will conclude with information about Digital Citizenship and The Art of Messaging.

Detective Ray Bennett of the Modesto Police Department will cover Social Media with Brandon Schut of the county Office of Education providing the presentation on Digital Citizenship.

David Jones, Director of the Children and Families Commission, will discuss the Art of Messaging in the final session of the day.

Following all the presentations, evaluations of the day will be conducted and there will be a preview of the next event, Health Care Day.

Stanislaus County Office of Education’s Prevention Programs Department oversees the Leadership Academy Program. Students representing schools throughout the county meet one day each month throughout the school year. They learn about emerging community issues, are provided opportunities to expand their knowledge of academics and work ethics. One of the goals of Leadership Academy is to raise awareness of careers available locally to students after they graduate from college or trade school.
