Kids Summer Camp Aiming To Be Super
OJUSD

Oakdale primary school students can once again pack their weeks with a bit of fun as the Oakdale Joint Unified School District continues to offer Oakdale’s Super Summer Camp.

The annual kindergarten through sixth grade themed day camp will once again be hosted at Magnolia Elementary School weekly during the next two months. The first session began Monday, June 5 and the final session concludes July 28.

“We want to improve the program every single year,” Summer Camp Supervisor Kacie Conover stated. “We try to stay current with what the schools are doing.”

In keeping with that, a few club options have been added this year including an engineering and arts club. Conover shared the technology club will be back with an addition of coding and robotics to the club activities.

“The district really wants to emphasize STEAM,” she said. “We really want to emphasize structured and unstructured play.”

STEAM, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, is a focus during the school year so they will carry that thread through the summer months as well.

During each week’s activity campers have enrichment activities, a field trip, as well as trips to the Plunge.

The remaining week’s camp themes and dates include:

Farm to Fork, June 12 to June 16; field trip to Jessop and Mistlin Park.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game, June 19 to June 23; field trip to Oakland Coliseum.

Beam Me Up Scotty!, June 26 to June 30; field trip to Laser Quest.

Summer Camp Cinema, July 3 to July 7 (No camp July 4), field trip to Galaxy Theater.

That’s How We Roll, July 10 to July 14, field trip to McHenry Bowl.

#Science, July 17 to July 21, Tech Museum of Innovation.

Summer Send Off, July 24 to July 28, Funworks.

“I love seeing the new friendships that form,” Conover said of her camp highlight each year. “I love seeing a student from Cloverland make friends with a student from Fair Oaks.”
