Community members are invited to take advantage of the variety of free programs offered at the Oakdale Library this July, beginning with free computer classes. Computer Basics classes will take place on Tuesday, July 12 at 19 at 10:30 a.m.; Internet Basics will be offered on Tuesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Advance registration is required for all computer classes; please contact the Oakdale Library at (209) 847-4204 to sign up.

Children can take part in a Craft-a-palooza on Thursday, July 7 at 3:30 p.m. The library will provide a variety of materials for children to use in creating a number of crafts.

All ages are invited to make Ice Cream in a Bag on Friday, July 8 at 3:30 p.m. The library will provide the ingredients and materials needed.

Toddlers and preschoolers can enjoy “Wee Move and Play” on Monday, July 11 at 11 a.m. This program features an hour of music, movement, and sensory play.

Teens and adults can relax with an afternoon of coloring on Wednesday, July 13 at 3:30 p.m. The library will provide coloring sheets designed for adults, as well as colored pencils and crayons.

LEGO Days will be held on Thursdays, July 14 and 28 at 3:30 p.m. Finished LEGO creations will be displayed at the library. Children under the age of 4 are welcome to participate, however they must have direct parental supervision at all times.

Magic Dan will perform at the library on Tuesday, July 19 at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Children and their families are invited to enjoy this free magic show.

The NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Connection Recovery Support Group will meet at the library on Tuesday, July 19 at 5 p.m. This free, peer-led support group is designed to help adults living with mental illness. Participants can gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others. The group is led by NAMI-trained facilitators who follow a structured model to ensure that everyone in the group has an opportunity to be heard.

Children and teens can celebrate the 2016 Summer Olympics with an Olympic triathlon at the library on Thursday, July 21 at 3:30 p.m. Participants can take part in miniature golf, basketball and archery for a chance to win prizes.

On Tuesday, July 26 at 11 a.m. the Oakdale Library Book Club will meet to discuss The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Book clubs allow community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussions with others.

Crafts, Wee Move and Play, Coloring for Adults, LEGO Days, the Olympic Triathlon, and the Oakdale Library Book Club are sponsored by the Friends of the Oakdale Library.
