Work continues on a number of road improvement projects around the city, with some started already and others due to begin soon.

Information from the city’s Public Works Department provides the following update on projects:

The North Oak Avenue Phase 1 (F Street to Poplar Avenue) Project is currently under construction and will provide underground infrastructure (storm drain lines and water mains) upgrades and a new road surface. The North Oak Avenue Phase 2 (Poplar Avenue to Walnut Street) Project is scheduled to go out to bid later this month.

The A Street, Cloverland Way, Sierra Road Reconstruction Projects will provide underground infrastructure upgrades and a new road surface on East A Street between Yosemite Avenue and Sixth Avenue, on Sierra Avenue between A and C streets, and on Cloverland Way between East A Street and Sky View Drive. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 12.

The Maag Avenue and D Street Overlay (Maag Avenue between F and G streets and D Street between Johnson and Maag avenues) Project is expected to begin in early May.

City officials remind motorists that extra care should be taken when entering work zones. Short delays can also be expected, so motorists are advised to plan accordingly.

For more information about the projects, contact the City of Oakdale Public Works Department at 845-3600 or visit the website at www.ci.oakdale.ca.us.

Meanwhile, Oakdale City Council members were updated on the budget process at their Monday night meeting. According to City Manager Steve Hallam’s Power Point presentation to the council at its April 5 meeting, adjusting to the current fiscal realities include declining revenue, falling budget reserves, and likely, reductions in service.

The next budget workshop session will be on Monday, April 26 in the City Council Chambers.
