In honor of National Hunger Awareness Month, Raley’s Family of Fine Stores is offering customers a convenient, budget-friendly opportunity to support their neighborhood food bank by simply purchasing everyday products that may already be on their shopping lists.
Now through Tuesday, June 12, PepsiCo in partnership with Raley’s Food For Families program will donate 10 cents for every participating PepsiCo product purchased at Raley’s, Bel Air and Nob Hill Foods. PepsiCo has selected 24 participating products that cover everything from orange juice to cereal, and many other commonly purchased items. To find a participating product, just look for the PepsiCo Food For Families display card at the shelf.
“PepsiCo is proud to partner with Raley’s for this cause,” said Paul Turcotte, Business Development Manager in PepsiCo’s California Region. “The summer months are a challenging time for food banks, with the absence of school lunch programs, and Food For Families provides needed support to help feed hungry families in the community.”
When a customer purchases any of the following brands at Raley’s, PepsiCo will make a 10-cent donation per product to Food For Families, benefiting 72 food banks throughout Northern California and Nevada.
Products range from Doritos to Lays Kettle chips, Gatorade to Life cereal, and Propel fitness award to Rice-A-Roni and Pasta Roni, among other items. Again, look for the special sign on the shelves to support the Food For Families program.
“Hunger exists throughout the year, not just during the holiday season,” said Jennie Teel-Wolter, Raley’s Community Relations Manager. “It’s our hope that with our customers’ support, this campaign will generate between $50,000 and $75,000 to benefit our local food banks during the time they need it most.”
The Food For Families program has raised more than $27 million and 17 million pounds of food through vendor partnerships, its holiday bag campaign and customer donations at checkstands. Raley’s absorbs all administrative fees to ensure that 100 percent of donations go directly to local food banks.
“As a result of our partnership with Raley’s Food For Families, we are able to provide food and encouragement for thousands of families who might otherwise go without the basic necessity of life,” said Brian Aird, Business Coordinator of the Modesto Salvation Army. "We are grateful to Raley’s, their employees and business partnership for providing care and attention to those in need.”
