Known as “The Judge” and “Lester the Molester” former Raider great Lester Hayes made a three-day appearance at the Oakdale KMart this past week. The two-time Super Bowl champion and five-time National Football League Pro Bowler made his way to town as part of a 17-state stop for the children’s charity, March of Dimes.

“Giving back to the community, especially the young kids, is very, very important to us (the NFL and former NFL players). It is the main focus and showing love to the sick babies in the country. It’s not about Lester Hayes and my football accomplishments; it’s about helping the babies and young kids who need help,” Hayes said of the organization.

Along with his high energy and enthusiasm, Hayes brought memorabilia from his NFL days to the retailer. Customers had the opportunity to purchase personalized items from Hayes, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to March of Dimes. Autographed photos, cards, jerseys, plaques, posters and other memorabilia was available to the public during Hayes’ local appearance from June 16-18.

“It’s a pleasure to assist the community and their families. Anytime I can help, I will be there. If my jerseys, posters, cards, etc. can bring in money for them, then that’s one of the best things I can do in my life,” Hayes said.

Hayes also brought his pair of Super Bowl rings for fans to look at.

“I grew up watching Lester Hayes. He made Sundays enjoyable to watch as a Raiders fan for me and my dad,” said customer Brent Sanders.

Hayes and others will continue touring the United States this summer to help raise money for March of Dimes.
