Flower Planting Effort Saturday
0801 Medlen Park 2
Volunteers will be gathering at the Eric Medlen memorial Park on Saturday, March 16 to help plant flowers.

Mimi Medlen and a crew of family and friends will be planting spring flowers around the Eric Medlen memorial statue in Oakdale this Saturday, March 16 starting at 11 a.m. They are looking for additional volunteers to come out and help plant the flowers around the Eric Medlen memorial.

The Eric Medlen Park is located at Greger Street and Vintage Circle in Oakdale.

The official park dedication was in July 2012 and brought together participants from the rodeo and the racing worlds, as Medlen had grown up participating in rodeo and then also got into racing. The former Oakdale resident was a famed National Hot Rod Association driver who passed away in 2007 from head injuries suffered during a crash in a training run for a race.

Volunteers are needed for the planting event this weekend. The weather forecast looks to be favorable for the event on Saturday. Organizers said they have several flowers to plant so anyone with free time is encouraged to show up. If interested, please bring your own gloves and shovels.
