An early morning multi-alarm fire in Riverbank has caused extensive damage to a couple of businesses along the main corridor through town.

Crews were on scene at the corner of Third and Atchison streets, with a report of the fire starting in the Vigil Wireless business and spreading next door to the Serv-All Liquor business.

Along with crews from the Riverbank station, additional units have been called in from multiple locations, including Oakdale, Escalon and Modesto. No word was initially available on the potential cause of the fire. Crews were trying to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to other nearby structures.
