Joe and Jennifer Brown are doing their best to make a difference in the life of those in need.
As the owners of Me and My Feet, an Oakdale retail and online shoe store, they’ve hosted a shoe drive throughout the month of August. Community members are encouraged to bring donations to the store location at 1570 E. F St., Oakdale. This inaugural Shoe Drive is slated to continue through Wednesday, Aug. 31. Shoes donated will be distributed by Oakdale’s Community Sharing and Modesto’s Church in the Park Program.
“As long as it has life in it,” Jennifer said of the type of shoe the couple is seeking to donate. New or gently used shoes are welcome.
“Anything will be helpful,” husband and business partner Joe added.
Since 2006, Me and My Feet’s mission has been to reach beyond just shoe sales and help those in need. The company has already donated hundreds of pairs of shoes to those in need. The goal set for their first communitywide drive is 500 pairs.
“This is the first one we’ve done as a community,” Jennifer said. “This will be an annual event. It’s just been so overwhelming.”
The couple noted that between community as well as corporate donations they have acquired close to 400 pairs of new and gently used shoes so far during the drive.
Drop off of new or gently used shoes can be made to Me and My Feet, 1570 E. F St., Suite N, Oakdale in the Raley’s shopping center. For more information call (209) 681-7728.
