The Stanislaus Economic Development and Workforce Alliance (Small Business Development Center), City of Oakdale, Oakdale Chamber and the U.S. Small Business Administration are partners in the business management program.

The class is being hosted in Oakdale, but participants are also being sought from Riverbank, Escalon, Waterford and surrounding areas

Many local business owners have participated in past courses, including Basi Insurance, I Love Paris, Spec Ops Live Play and Café Bliss.

Small Business Development Center officials said the class will have professionals as guest speakers each week. They will cover topics including Sales and Marketing, Organization Formation, Finance, Insurance, and Human Resources as well as Using Technology to Grow your Business.

Café Bliss owner Jim Postma and his sister and co-owner, Jayne Erro, attended the course in 2011 and were very pleased.

“In business for 24 years and wish I had taken the course before I started Café Bliss, I would have been able to set up the business quicker and made it better,” Postma noted. “I really appreciated the marketing information and my sister Jayne, really took advantage of the business management and bookkeeping topics. There was so much great information that even today I have a list of items I have plans to implement.

“I also took advantage of a free consulting service offered by Small Business Development Center (SBDC). As a result of the class and the consultant, we implemented a number of great ideas that have helped our business grow!”

Space is limited, so sign up today for the 10-week course.

“It’s a great class for any business person interested in improving their business management and revenue growth,” Postma said.
