The Stanislaus County Office of Education’s YES (Youth Entertainment Stage) Kidettes will present Disney’s “Cinderella, Kids” beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Gallo Center for the Arts (1000 I St., Modesto). Two additional matinee performances are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m.

Tickets priced at $12, $16, and $20, are on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts box office and online at www.galloarts.org.

The cast of Disney’s “Cinderella, Kids” represent 41 different schools, including Crossroads Elementary and Mesa Verde Elementary in Riverbank, along with Cloverland Elementary and Fair Oaks Elementary in Oakdale.

In this YES Kidettes production, over 80 first through fifth grade students from throughout Stanislaus County will participate in the performance. According to Melanee Wyatt, “The students are learning first-hand the thrill and enchantment of performing on a stage.”

The YES Kidettes are offered a broad educational experience, gaining insights from YES Mentors – YES Company Alumni who return to volunteer as rehearsal and backstage assistants, said Wyatt.

The timeless “rags to riches” fairy tale becomes a new audience favorite in Disney’s Cinderella, Kids, an adaptation of the treasured animated film that will charm its way into your heart and remind audiences that dreams really can come true. Poor Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and denied a chance to go to the royal ball. With a little help from her mice friends – and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother – Cinderella’s dreams come true. She goes to the ball, meets the Prince and falls in love.

Music and lyrics by Mack David, Al Hoffman, Jerry Livingston, Book adapted by Marcy Heisler, Music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle. Disney’s Cinderella, Kids is presented through special arrangement with and all authorized performance materials are supplied by Music Theatre International.
