Come to the annual Crime Stopping Cuisine Food and Wine Tasting on Friday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Peterson Hall, 720 12th St. in Modesto.
Crime Stoppers is a nonprofit community program that assists law enforcement in Stanislaus County in the apprehension of wanted fugitives. Crime Stoppers works with all law enforcement including Turlock Police in providing a 24 hour hotline to residents of Turlock and surrounding communities in Stanislaus County.
Persons with information are always anonymous and are eligible for cash rewards of up to $1000 for the information they provide if it results in an arrest or identification of a suspect. Tipsters can call 1-866-602-7463 with information or go online to www.stancrimetips.org.
Proceeds from the event go to the reward program of Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers and to the school programs Students Speaking Out in the middle and high Schools of Turlock and Stanislaus County schools.
This program also allows students to call in crimes that occur on and off campus anonymously as well.
The program began in 2012 and has helped prevent several crimes since its inception.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with restaurants, wineries, Dust Bowl Brewery and other vendors from around the community. There is a live and silent auction as well as a Harley Davidson as the Grand Prize Drawing for the evening.
