Square Dance Classes

The Skirts 'n Flirts Square Dance Club of Oakdale is hosting a New Dancer Class. Class begins on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Grange Hall, 30 Lambuth Ave., Oakdale, at the corner of West F Street and Lambuth Avenue. The first class is free, then the weekly fee is $6 for adults, $3 for children. Class is open to all those interested; including singles, couples, and children nine and older accompanied by an adult. Accordion Session

The Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave., will be the host site for the next gathering of the Good Time Accordion Club. The festivities are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 13 and will feature both music and a social time. The session starts at 7 p.m. and accordion fans and performers of all skill levels are welcome. Women’s Connection

Oakdale Women’s Connection will host its next luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 14 at Papapolloni Mediterranean Bistro. The buffet lunch is $18 per person and will be hosted from noon to 1:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Christopher Davis and Ron Quintanal will perform on keyboard. To RSVP call Barbara at 847-5605.

 

Day With Wildlife

The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center will host its admission-free annual Day with Wildlife on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wildlife Center inside Fox Grove Fishing Access, 1220 Geer Road, Hughson. All are invited to come see some of their educational animals up close and personal. There will be BBQ tri tip sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cream sundaes, face painting, T-shirts for sale, raffle drawings, a bake sale, kid’s crafts, and more.

 

Garden Club Meets

The Oakdale Garden Club will host its next meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Gene Bianchi Community Center. The welcome back meeting will be an update of all the Club has been doing the past year, as well as plans for the coming year. Current members, as well as prospective members are invited to attend. Coffee and cookies will be served. Bianchi Community Center is at 110 S. Second Ave., Oakdale.

 

Library Foundation Meet

The Stanislaus Library Foundation will host Modesto author Juliana Presto at its annual Author’s Garden Gala on Saturday, Sept. 23. The gala will take place at 6 p.m. at the Modesto home of Ginger and Kent Johnson. All proceeds will benefit children’s programs at the library’s 13 branches countywide, including the Summer Reading program, which serves more than 10,000 school-age children each year. The Stanislaus Library Foundation enriches lives in the community by raising funds to support key library programs, increasing awareness, and advocating for a vital library.

 

Club Collection

 

Oakdale High School Science Club is currently serving as an eclipse glasses drop off site. Glasses should be brought to the campus, classroom B1 after 3:15 p.m. or at the main office between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Collected glasses will be sent to South America for the next eclipse occurring in April of 2019.
