Get your car washed and help a local family.

Gary Peterson is coordinating a pair of car wash fundraisers on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for his nephew Eric Peterson. The car washes will be held at the Yogurt Station, 1214 W. F St., and at Double D Power Sports, 260 N. Yosemite Ave. Peterson is looking for volunteers to help wash the cars and draw patrons in at both car washes. If you would like to participate, all volunteers will be meeting at the Yogurt Station at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The family has also set up a fund for Eric Peterson at Oak Valley Community Bank.

Peterson was born and raised in Oakdale and was seriously injured in a Utah car crash earlier this month. He graduated from Beyer High School in 2008. He was in Salt Lake City, Utah spending time with his girlfriend, Baylee King when the two were struck from behind by a stolen police car at a stop light. The impact resulted in serious injuries to both victims. The 6-foot 8-inch, 22-year-old Peterson had to be extricated from his vehicle. He remains in the intensive care unit at a Utah hospital with broken bones and severe head injuries. He was last listed in critical condition. King was also in ICU, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

All proceeds from the weekend car washes will help the family pay for medical expenses.
