Burglar Caught In Tuesday Night Break-In

Oakdale Police caught a would-be burglar in the act on Tuesday evening, April 10.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., police responded to an audible alarm sounding at the Oakdale Joint Unified School District at 168 S. Third Ave. When officers arrived on scene they observed two window screens had been removed and broken glass lying on the ground.

Officers encountered a man walking from the behind the building through the breeze way and quickly apprehended him. The man was identified as Jason McCaskey, 34, of Oakdale.

Indications are McCaskey was caught in the act of breaking into the school office and was arrested by officers at the scene. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for attempted burglary, vandalism, and trespassing. He was being held on $10,000 bail.
