The Burchell Hill neighborhood and park will serve as the primary Oakdale city location for this year’s 31st Annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

All community members are welcome to the annual free event.

The family friendly festivities will host a number of events including: a classic car show, child fingerprinting, bicycle registration, pet adoption, music, hot dogs and pizza. Visitors will also have an opportunity to check out a variety of emergency service vehicles on display.

National Night Out is observed in over 16,000 communities nationwide (including Canada). It is hosted each year in communities across the country on the first Tuesday of August. The event is dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention programs including neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement and regional crime prevention.

Valley Home is also planning its traditional Night Out festivities, with visits by firefighters, CHP and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department helicopter due to come in for a landing.
