A bicycle race being put on by Topsport will see riders in the area of Willms Road and Crabtree Road outside Oakdale on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Hours for the event are listed as 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration for the race starts at 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Warnerville Road and Willms Road. Registration for each category will close 15 minutes prior to that category start time. There are two distances, a 59-mile race and an 86-mile race with several different events, from Masters to Elite, Women’s Pro classes and more.

Topsport puts on events throughout the region and will follow the Knights Ferry Road race with an event in Copperopolis, the Copper Town Circuit Race #1 on Feb. 17.

Races are held under USAC rules.

While the road itself in the area will not be closed down, race director Lee Shuemake said if people can avoid driving there while the cyclists are out in force, it would be safer for all concerned.

The Stanislaus County Public Works Traffic Engineering Division also issued a notification about the race, noting that there will be a special event in the area, but there are no detours set up and the roadway is open.
