A Thursday accident along a rural road outside the city resulted in the death of a 17-year-old Oakdale girl, killed June 23 when her ATV entered the path of a 2002 Chevrolet. The Chevy was traveling westbound on Rice Road at about 45 mph early Thursday evening when the vehicles collided.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s office confirmed the identity of the teen as Kaitlynn Louis. She attended Oakdale High and would have been a senior in the fall.

According to California Highway Patrol reports, Kaitlynn was riding her ATV southbound on a canal bank that runs parallel to McGee Avenue when she failed to stop before entering Rice Road, placing her directly into the path of the Chevrolet driven by a 53-year-old Oakdale man. The other driver was unable to stop in time and broadsided the ATV, ejecting Kaitlynn onto the roadway. The teen was transported to Memorial Hospital where she later died from her injuries.
