Weather proved to be the number one topic throughout Oakdale Joint Unified School District Elementary schools last week, as parents, administrators and teachers were faced with a Friday forecast of rain. An unprecedented occurrence, by midweek schools were faced with the task of Contingency Plans and how to execute the Annual Jog-A-Thon, rain or shine.

Mother Nature worked with the school sites however and rain stayed at bay until later that day. Friday morning over 2,700 students threw on their annual T-shirt and moved for 30 minutes to fulfill their pledge obligations. The OJUSD Jog-A-Thon is hosted annually as a key fundraiser of the respective Parent Teacher Clubs.

Each of the four campuses had successful events. Preliminary totals for each campus are: Cloverland, $34,473; Fair Oaks, $42,432; Magnolia, $30,703 and Sierra View, $35,309. Each site principal reported being amazed and grateful to the PTC’s as well as parents for a successful event.
