The 51st annual Pumpkin Roll was sunny after a foggy start. It was fun to see people that used to live in the Ferry bring their children to experience rolling a pumpkin down the street. Winners in each category received a trophy. In the Boys 0-5 years the winner was Ryan Mayer and the Girls 0-5 winner was Rita Taylor with a roll 1 foot, 1 inch from the line. Bud Beuving won the Seniors division - mens, and Josephine Thompson won womens. Audrey Songer won the Girls division and Brayden Gordon won the Boys division. In the Teens category, Gwyn Davis won for the girls and Derek Pennington won for the boys with a roll on the line! Alisa Panick won for the Womens division and Josh Lancaster won the Mens with a roll one inch from the line. It was a fun filled day with good food, crafts, a petting zoo and the Roll.

The Knights Ferry School children and pre-schoolers enjoyed their costume parade down Main Street for Halloween. When they returned to school they learned which group took the best decorated pumpkin awards. First place went to Matt Wolf, Lily Sturtevant, Wyatt Sousa, Tristan Voortman and Mitzy Collantes for their pumpkin “Tin Man.” Second place went to Wyatt Dickens, Troy Peterson, Ben Cassinetto and Marcada Baker for their Ice Cream Sundae pumpkin. Third place went to Alex Arias, Bryce Anderson, Carter Sturtevant and Breanna Banks for their Mario Kart pumpkin. The students did a great job on their pumpkin creations!

There is major digging in the Cemetery and it is not by a gravedigger but a huge excavator. Oakdale Irrigation District is putting a pipeline through the property from the South San Joaquin Canal to the Morrison Road Ditch, bypassing the Frymire Ditch. They have gone down 20 feet to allow the water to flow from one end to the other without pumping. It is quite a project!
