Denise Crom has undertaken a new project - Bloomingcamp’s Bakery. She has been leasing the building to make pies for their Barn in Escalon and decided to open the bake shop three days a week to catch the local and recreation trade. Bloomingcamp’s October Fest was their opening. The bakery will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Barn will continue to carry her baked goods (fresh and frozen) also. Besides pies, they have turnovers, dumplings, caramel apples, and other goodies. Stop by and check it out!

Carol Davis killed another rattlesnake, right on her porch step! She had gone out and was coming back in when she saw the snake, right where she had stepped. Luckily Carol had a hoe handy and she dispatched the small snake.

The Knights Ferry Covered Bridge has become a National Historic Landmark. This qualifies the site for federal preservation advice.

Red Ribbon Week will start on October 25th, with the Knights Ferry School children wearing red. Friday will see the students in their pajamas!

The 49th annual Pumpkin Roll will be November 4th in the Ferry. The Odd Fellows will be serving their breakfast of egg, ham, hot cakes, juice and coffee for $5.00 starting at 8:00 a.m. The clubhouse and tennis court will have craft booths and a children’s section run by the Orange Blossom 4-H will be on the tennis court. Rolling sign ups start at 11:00 a.m. with the 5 and under rolling at noon on the tennis court. All others will roll starting at 1:00 p.m. There will be food available and the museum will be open, as will the town merchants. It will be a fun day!

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer enjoyed the fall colors on the backside of the Sierra Nevada Mountains as they drove home from Reno on 395 and over Sonora Pass. The wedding of great niece Adriana Hickey was the reason for the trip.
