Lynn and Barbara Burroughs have returned from visiting friends in Texas and then going to Colorado to see grandson Neal (and his parents Rett and Justina). While there they experienced a two-day blizzard! Major Rett will be deployed to Korea in the future. On the way home they drove through Wyoming and experienced some fierce winds and road ice.

At the MAC meeting Adam French, Oakdale Fire Captain, reported that all burning would be soon suspended due to the dry conditions. This summer will be a high fire danger time. Also the water flow in the river is very high and dangerous. There have already been water rescues. Play it safe with both fire and water!

Michael and Maureen McKibban have returned from Ashland, Oregon, where they attended Shakespeare plays. Some were in modern dress and modern setting which made them interesting. The actors were all great. One was very depressing, based on the blues song “St. James Infirmary”, with prison camps, WWI, sleazy bars and the flu epidemic of 1918. Maureen said it was a very strange production, and very grim.

Sad to report your reporter’s mother died on the 23rd. Not really sad though because she was 96 and had a wonderful life and died at her home in her own bed, happy.
