At the MAC meeting the rash of burglaries in the area was discussed. There were eight that they knew of. Everyone needs to keep a watch out for anything suspicious and report it to the Sheriff. Also discussed by the California Highway patrolman was the help he was giving the school on safety. Josh Tucker from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department gave the 2012 statistics for our area. There were 128 calls from Station 2, most medical. Joshua Mann from the County Planning Department gave an update on the Agricultural Plan. As for Agricultural mitigation it is one acre developed, one acre for agriculture. Supervisor Bill O’Brien passed out a map showing the two zones for the town, inside the town’s core no minimum lot size, outside the core but still in the Historical District, a 5-acre minimum. There will be a meeting on this before it is finalized. The A T & T building expansion has the permits for building so something should be happening soon.

On Saturday, February 23, Oak Summit Assembly #128 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls was instituted, initiated and installed in Knights Ferry. Rainbow is a fraternal order associated with the Masonic Lodge for girls from the age of 11 to 20. The primary purpose of the order is service to better their community and country. Mallory Baity was installed as Worthy Advisor with the theme “Looking to the Future.” Eleven girls are now charter members of the re-instituted assembly. Besides Mallory, those initiated were: Madeline Freitas, Peyton Burnett, Breanna Morgan, Melissa Thompson, Natalie Thompson, Lindsey Largent, Brandi Cardey, Kaylee Diaz, Hannah Larsen and Emily Johnson. They look forward to re-establishing Rainbow and all its activities within Knights Ferry, Oakdale and the surrounding areas. Congratulations go out to Mary Morris on her 104th birthday. She celebrated at the Oak Valley Care Center with family and friends, including daughters-in-law Carol Davis, Linda Morris and Margie Morris.

Knights Ferry School will hold Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten registration March 7. If you have not received a packet and have a child who will be 5 by December 1 call the school at 881-3382.
