At the MAC meeting held last Thursday, Supervisor O’Brien spoke on the release of prisoners to the local facilities. The State is funding this now but may not if the tax bill does not pass in November. The criminals that are coming into the Stanislaus County facility are non-violent and non-sexual offenders. Fish and Wildlife passed out fishing regulations for the Stanislaus River and spoke on the public meeting that was held in the Ferry. They plan to go ahead with the side channel restoration in the Army Corp Park below the covered bridge. The California Highway patrol commented on the fact it has been quiet in the area except for some stolen cars in the Orange Blossom area. A T & T spoke on the addition to the phone building in the Plaza. Project manager Mark Edgar showed the plans and the materials for the building. There will be a metal roof and new window elements on the Main street side and a new fence set next to the building. They hope to start construction in September. This added area is needed for fiber optics (think DSL).

The weather was fairly cooperative for the Civil War. The battles, hard fought by the Blue and the Gray, were not rained on. The spaghetti dinner Saturday night was fun and filled with good food and lots of raffle prizes. Benny’s Ball Feed was held at the River’s Edge that evening also.
