Congratulations go out to Amber and Kylea Coston for placing in the top 20 finalists for the Stanislaus County Peace Essay Contest. Amber was in the top 20 for Seventh and Eighth Grade (out of 376) and Kylea was in the top 20 for Fifth and Sixth Grades (out of 317). Their actual placing will be announced in February. Proud Great Grandparents are Bill and Evelyn Frias.

Andrew Schlegel graduated from Boot Camp in Ft. Benning, Georgia January 18. Sherry and Mark went back for his graduation. Andrew is now stationed in Hawaii with the 35th Battalion. Andrew didn’t like the weather in Georgia but is enjoying Hawaii! Mark and Sherry are proud of their soldier!

At an assembly at Knights Ferry School, Student of the Month Awards were given out. The Kindergarten award went to Kyla Ryan. First Grade saw Grace Anderson receive the award. Mason O’Neil took the award for Second Grade. Anthony Neely was the Third Grade recipient and Haley Page took the Fourth Grade award. Fifth Grade award went to Alexis Arias. The Sixth Grade award went to Alyssa Sisco and her sister Kylee Sisco took the Seventh Grade award. The Super Star name drawn was Alexis Arias. Keep up the good work!

Walt Hanline gave a workshop last Friday on Strategic Plan and Long Term Goal Setting Priorities for District Monies. Attending were all the Knights Ferry School teachers, staff, all board members, parents and community members. It was a productive day. There is another workshop for board members Monday.
