At the MAC meeting last Thursday Carol Davis reported on the upcoming spaghetti dinner put on by the Community Club in conjunction with the Civil War on March 24th and the Valley Lode Garden Club’s workshop to be held the 28th of February. J.D. Wikert and Ramon Martin spoke on the side channel restoration for the salmon. They showed pictures of the work done at the Lancaster Road project, before and when restored. They showed the equipment that was used, the gravel plant, loaders, cats and backhoes. They want to do this below Russian Rapids and below the covered bridge. They need a public meeting before the MAC would give the go ahead or stop it. (See next paragraph). Joseph Gonzales, Architect, and Rosiella Ileto and Mark Edgers, Project Manager for A. T. and T talked about the expansion of the phone building in the Plaza. They brought drawings and plot plans of the preliminary design. When the project is done, maybe (hope) there will be fiber optics available. The Knights Ferry Community Church submitted plans of ADA parking that they were told needed to be in place. The Historical nature would give them a variance.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would like to invite the local community to attend a meeting to discuss the potential to start a river restoration project in Knights Ferry. A public meeting will be held on Monday, March 12th at 6:00 p.m. at the clubhouse. The Service will collect community input regarding the possibility of a future restoration project in the area. Two potential sites have been identified that offer the opportunity to create additional habitat for juvenile salmon and steelhead, as required for operation of New Melones Reservoir.
