ATTENTION KNIGHTS FERRY - the Community Club potluck dinner meeting will need you to attend. It is 6:30 p.m. on March 3 in the clubhouse. Come see what will be happening at the meeting on the 3rd since the Civil War people canceled.

The spaghetti dinner in conjunction with the Civil War is a moneymaker to pay for the insurance and it will go on, and there will not be re-enactors so we need more PEOPLE to attend! We will have a raffle, spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and drinks for $7; children under 10 are $4. Put it on your calendar for March 19 at 5 p.m.

At the MAC meeting last Thursday Ken Vogel introduced himself and spoke on his running for State Assembly District 12. He has been on the San Joaquin Board of Supervisors. He believes that water is our most valuable resource and is worth fighting over. Speaking next was Tom Wolf from the County Department of Environmental Resources. He said that by 2020 the State would mandate a 75 percent reduction in landfills. He discussed the one can garbage pickup and recycling. He was looking for ideas to increase recycling. Also he said there would be a toxic waste dump in Oakdale March 4-5. Supervisor O’Brien talked on the speed bump policy in the outlying areas. The Board of Supervisors will not approve a blanket policy BUT Knights Ferry will be a test case. We hope to slow down the speeders. Gary Briery had his garage plans approved.

The Knights Ferry third and fourth graders went on a field trip to Lake Tulloch Dam and Goodwin Dam to see where our water comes from. They had an enjoyable outing.

The work on the River’s Edge is coming along nicely. The deck has a new permanent roof with lights and fans. The bar is now on the River side so patrons can sit and enjoy the view. The dining area is at the front. They hope for a mid-March opening.
