On Saturday, July 24, the family and friends of greatly missed local, Eric Ulrich gathered for an eventful evening for a benefit dinner for Eric’s family. The Odd Fellows tennis court, the Community Club, and the Odd Fellows hall were full of food, live music, beer and wine, and at least 200 people! Fred Dolling and Rick Feichter led the crew of helpers as they planned a delicious tri-tip dinner, silent auction, and raffle table. After a few cancelation dates, Fred was really glad to see this benefit dinner finally take place. They had some very unique silent auction items including an Air B&B that slept 12 people, and industrial first aid kit, a framed picture of Knights Ferry, 14 karat gold earrings, and a turquoise stone bracelet. The raffle tables were full of goodies including gift certificates for the Odd Fellows pancake breakfast, 50s Roadhouse, the Creamery, and the House of Beef. Live music from Barbara Findlay and Jim Ramont rounded out the special event!
Earlier in the day, Bill Carr and Rick Maisel planned a golf tournament held at Jack Tone Golf Course in honor of Eric. Bill was unable to make it to the tournament so Rick hosted 33 golfers and handed out trophies at the end of the day. Sean McCarthy won for the longest drive with a 280+ yard drive. Sean Cooley won closest to the pin at 5 feet and 11 inches. James Maisel played even par and took home the trophy for the longest putt.
Thank you to all those pitched in to plan and those who attended the benefit dinner and golf tournament. It was a beautiful day to celebrate and remember Eric.
