Knights Ferry News 6-2-21

The work crews came back to work on the road and the side streets of Knights Ferry are smooth and pretty! I assume they may be out in the near future to paint the stop sign lines.

School is officially out for the summer in Knights Ferry. They celebrated the Kindergarteners on Wednesday night and the 8th Graders Thursday night. Each night, the graduate parents and Parent Teacher Club decorated the stage and lawn that overlooks the town. The best part of these graduation ceremonies was that each graduate was allowed to invite eight people and each graduate had a table reserved for their guests. One perk of the reserved seating was not having to arrive an hour early just to get a seat!

The Kinders had balloon décor, festive blue and gold decorations and a little aisle for the graduates to walk down. Congratulations to the graduating Kindergarten class: Abigail Booth, Ava Armario, Logan DeMatteis, Madelyn Pledger, Blake Sachau, Natalia Gonzalez, Mia Bertucci, Nathan Cavanaugh, and Reagan Owen.

The 8th graders’ night was all about the graduates with a poster board of each graduate and cookies on their family table. The graduation was rich with the tradition including the class wills, class history, and a word from the Jr. High teacher, Mr. Russell. Mr. Russell spoke about each graduate and wished them well. Congratulations to the graduating 8th Grade class: Jay Bates, Jacob Cavanaugh, Paul Chiara, Nadia Lau-Vargas, Nadiah Longoria-Gonzalez, Joseph Moura, James Peterson, Troy Peterson, Lupita Pineda, Trexler Porter, Kyla Ryan, and Lily Sturtevant. Best of luck in High School and beyond!

Thank you Dr. Janet Skulina, the teachers and staff, the Parent Teacher Club, and the Board of Directors: Mrs. Diane Noon, Mrs. Lisa Frymire, Mrs. Wendy Feichter, Mrs. Mary Turner, and Mrs. Andrea Gonzalez for a year of tough decisions, hard work, flexibility, and a positive attitude. The students at Knights Ferry School are lucky to have each of you in their corners.

The Odd Fellow Stanislaus Lodge #170 placed flags on the grave site of each veteran in the Knights Ferry Cemetery in honor of Memorial Day and the upcoming Flag Day. Thank you to the Odd Fellows for their time to honor each veteran.

Congratulations to local Odd Fellow, Fred Dolling! He has been elected as the new Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of California for the Odd Fellows organization! Last year, Fred lost the election by a mere three votes to a good friend but it must have been a blessing in disguise. Fred holds many hats in Knights Ferry but over the last year, he has focused on the Odd Fellows youth camp in Miwuk Village. He had a large part in revamping the camp and preparing it for post-pandemic campouts. The Three Links Camp of the Grand Lodge of California is available for individuals and groups to enjoy as well as a summer youth camp. They have RV spaces, tent spaces, and dorm beds in cabins. Fred said the camp is open and ready for reservations! Check it out at: https://www.caioof.org/three_links_camp.html

The Knights Ferry Museum was open this weekend! They have waited patiently to reopen their doors and the docents are eager to share Knights Ferry’s history with you. It’s amazing to see so many families are tied to this town.
