There was a very large tree that went down on Frymire Road, but did not block the road, just took out fencing on the Finn’s property. Looks like some good firewood!

Former Oakdale Leader employee and Knights Ferry resident Teresa Ewing Slovenec died suddenly on Christmas in Oklahoma where she has lived for over 10 years. Her daughter Heather Barlow Pena went to Knights Ferry School in the 1980’s.

Lisa Frymire and Fred Dolling both have December birthdays so the family and friends celebrated both with dinner at Javi’s.

Jim Boyer came through surgery and is in ICU at Kaiser Hospital. Diane thanks all for their prayers and concerns. He hopes to be home this week.

Kathy Dickens enjoyed all her children and grandchildren at her home for Christmas.

Lee and Mary Sue Shearer attended great-granddaughter Millie Serrano’s first birthday at her home in Modesto. She enjoyed the party!

Condolences go out to the family of Ken Burke. Ken ran the Resort (River’s Edge) in the 1970’s.

Upon putting away the Christmas books, I wondered what “sugar plums” were. Well, they were greengage plums cooked in thick syrup of sugar and cornstarch until they became translucent and preserved. They were then hung by their stems from colored strings on the Christmas tree to the delight of Victorian children.
