At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting, Lynn McPeak, Response to Intervention Coordinator, was the speaker. She ran the Monday, Oct 18th workshop for the teachers. They will be implementing a program to bring up the scores of the students that are not meeting their goals. Also the board changed Graduation to Wednesday, June 1st and the November meeting to the 9th. Lori Lubeck from the Parent Teacher Club reported on the Jog-a-Thon.

Carol Davis has her dog, Teddy, home from the hospital where they removed a peach pit from its small intestines. Teddy has a bellyband wrap and a cone on its head until the incision heals.

The Knights Ferry History and Museum Associates held their meeting last Tuesday and voted to trim the overhanging trees from the roof of the building.

Dick Muniain has a new dog, Max. It is a German Shepard-Golden Retriever-Chow mix. Dick says he is handsome! They are out walking together.

The Knights Ferry Garden Club will be purchasing two trees for the field at Knights Ferry School. They also will be making Pumpkin Rolls to sell at the Pumpkin Roll November 7th. The club has been making these rolls from Orpha Bright’s recipe since 1996. Contact a member if you would like to reserve your rolls ahead of time.

The KFS school children will again have their Halloween Parade through town. It will be Friday, October 29th at noon. Family, friends and community members line the street with big bowls of candy to give to the children. That Friday the students will also have decorated their pumpkins for judging.

Betty Roebuck Irvine, former Knights Ferry student (1922-1929) and painter of the mural in the Community Church, has had one of her paintings selected for AARP’s 2011 Calendar. She started painting at age 35 and is still taking lessons. She lives in Oakland and has a cottage in the Ferry. The winning painting is the view from her window of San Francisco Bay. She will have a booth at the Pumpkin Roll on November 7th with her cards and pictures for sale.

October 28th is the Oakdale Rural Fire Board meeting in the Ferry at 10:00 a.m. at the clubhouse and that night the MAC meets at the clubhouse at 7:00 p.m. Both these meetings deal with our community so please attend.
