Knights Ferry News 4-27-22

The sixth graders of Knights Ferry School attended Sixth Grade Camp at Foothill Horizons located up the hill in Sonora. They stayed for two nights and three days at the camp to connect with nature and other classmates. Alexa Bonson’s favorite part was staying in the Squirrel dorm with other girls and their Camp Counselors, Emily and Kaylee. The Knights Ferry boys stayed in the Oak dorm with their Camp Counselor, Brad. Many of the students participated in the Polar Bear Challenge and went on a night hike to enjoy the stars and the sounds of nature at night and their Naturalist Tirza played a game called camouflage. The sixth graders rode a Foothill Horizons school bus with other schools, this is a bit of a thrill because Knights Ferry School does not have a school bus of its own! For some students, this was one of their first school bus rides and it added to the fun and excitement of Sixth Grade Camp. The PTC donated money to help students go to camp and to alleviate some of the financial costs from the parents. The See’s Candy fundraiser raised $507.15 toward Sixth Grade Camp.

Later this week, the older grades will represent Knights Ferry School at a small school track meet at Paradise School. Good luck to all the participants!

The County has been doing some work near the Fire Station. They replaced the pipeline from the storm drain near the stop sign to the river and poured new curbing. The pipeline was clogged and the storm water was flooding the fire department’s boat ramp. It was a good idea to get it done before the summer when the fire department is busy dropping the rescue boat in at all hours of the day!
