The Jr. High served up a tasty Thanksgiving feast for lunch on Friday. The community members who attended enjoyed their turkey lunch and pumpkin pie dessert. After a little investigation with Mary Sue Shearer, we determined this Thanksgiving tradition started sometime in the early ‘90s. If you know the details of when the Jr. High class started to serve the community a Thanksgiving feast, please email me! No matter how it began it is a great way for the Jr. High class to give back to the community. Mr. Russell and Mrs. Dickens did a very good job helping the kids cook and serve the feast.

The Hill Top Bee was a school newspaper in 1944. It was led by Mrs. Marion Shearer, a teacher and Lee Shearer’s mother. We are working to get a copy of the issues in the museum soon. One of their columns featured regular updates about local soldiers in World War II. I thought it was a great idea! If you have any soldier updates please let me know. Be sure to get into the museum to read the Hill Top Bee!
