Quite a thunderstorm Sunday afternoon, complete with good size hail. Was fun to watch the progression of the clouds.

Bill and Kay Martinelli have two granddaughters that had knee surgery. Hanna Holland, softball player at Humboldt State, tore her ACL and will not play this year. Kaeli Sweet tore her meniscus and had surgery. Hope the girls heal fast!

Knights Ferry Community Church is having soup dinners on the Wednesdays of Lent. It is at the Fellowship hall starting at 6 p.m. On the week before Easter the dinner will be on Thursday.

The first rattlesnake of the year that your reporter has heard about was on her property! Daughter Cindy and friends were at the house and the Shearers were at breakfast in the Ferry. The kids were gathering kindling from the woodpile and there was the small snake. It was dispatched and saved for the parents to see! Cindy said it was the first time to see a rattler in the wild.

At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting the spaghetti dinner on March 11 was finalized. The dirt under the clubhouse has been removed and the treatment for the termites will be the fourth week in March. The Car Show on April 1 was discussed. Plans are coming along nicely. The Bald Mountain #4 Encampment will put on a breakfast on April 1 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the public and car show entrants. The election of officers was held with all present officers retaining their positions.

Male skunks are out and about looking for females. Here is the recipe for spray removal: mix 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/3 cup baking soda and 1 tablespoon of liquid soap. Scrub dog and leave on for a minute then wash off. Do this within four hours of skunking. Can be used on people also.
