At the last Community Club meeting, new officers were elected. President is Linda Morris, Vice President is Allan Oberst, Secretary is Kim Whittey, and Treasurer is Lisa Dolling. Carol Watson is the new cleaning person. Allan Oberst reported on the inspection by the Fire Department, only a few things need to be fixed. Raffle prizes are being collected for the March 20 Spaghetti Dinner by Gayle Lund and Lisa Dolling. Members have tickets for the Spaghetti dinner, $7.00 for adult, $4.00 under 11 years, or you can purchase them at the door at 5:00 p.m. on March 20th. Besides spaghetti, there will be salad, bread, drinks and dessert.

At Knights Ferry School this week there was a parent-staff-community members Read Around for the celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Jocelyn Burke reported the 3-4 class dissected owl pellets and found skulls and bones of birds and rodents. Welcome to Fourth Grade Marisa Silva!

The U. S. Army Corp of Engineers is going solar at the Knights Ferry Administration building of the Stanislaus River Parks. They are installing solar panels.

The KFS Eighth Graders are selling Papa Murphy’s cards for $10.00 each, a $44.00 value, to raise money for graduation. What a good deal!

Pastor Tanis of the Knights Ferry Community Church reports Good Friday service will be at 7:00 p.m. April 2nd and Easter Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. on Frymire Hill and 9:30 a.m. at the church on Sunday, April 4th.

Phil and Carmen Frymire’s yellow Labrador, Gypsy, is missing since March 6th. She is very friendly and not afraid of people. Her collar is off but she is micro-chipped. Anyone seeing her please call 881-3483.

Maureen and Michael McKibban are home from Massachusetts; actually Maureen was there 3 1/2 weeks and Michael just the last week, for the birth of granddaughter Emma. It was cold with dustings of snow then rain. Maureen helped daughter Kate and son-in-law Graeme with their first child. Michael and Maureen got in some sightseeing-Lexington and Concord. Maureen said it was something to walk where history happened. They also saw the North Bridge but the area was flooded from the rain.

Last Friday night at the River’s Edge, there was a birthday party for Bob Lutz (Campground Bob) with live music by Stan and Mark. He received some interesting gifts! Is it true Papa Smurf has been seen at the River’s Edge?

A letter was sent out to KFS school parents from Tom Changnon, Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools on the budget. He reports that Stanislaus County school districts will lose an additional $22 million in revenue. The County Office is projecting that this spring a vast majority of the 26 school districts in Stanislaus County will not be able to balance their budgets in the current year and the next two years.
