The Chess Club is celebrating their one-year anniversary this month! They have had over 50 participants engage in games during their monthly Chess Club gatherings! They leave a chess board in the library for people to enjoy and invite people to become honorary members of the Chess Club. Happy anniversary to the Chess Club!

It was a great Halloween for the kids at school and for the local kids! At the school, they held their annual Halloween carnival and parade downtown. In the evening, the local kids met downtown and traveled together to houses in the area gathering candy and goody bags.

Everyone came out for the Pumpkin Roll last weekend! It was a picture perfect day to sit or stand on Main Street with friends and family watching each participant roll a pumpkin from one chalk line to another. It may appear as an easy task but it is a challenge! The crowds cheered as pumpkins rolled, hopped, and turned every which way down the road. It is interesting to hear talk about strategy such as what shape of pumpkin, which way to face the stem, and what side of the road to start on. As if winning a trophy declaring the winner as the Pumpkin Roll Champion of the World isn’t incentive enough, there is a friendly side bet for the men and women. I enjoyed shopping at the vendors around town and visiting with people at the Odd Fellows Pancake Breakfast. I look forward to reporting the winners of each age group next week!
