YEA! The Post Office is back in business! After much paperwork and phone calls the Post Office held its Grand Reopening last Tuesday. Dignitaries attending were: Emily Allen from California Assemblymember Kristin Olsen’s office and she presented a certificate, Congressman Jeff Denham and his representatives Bob Rucker and Wendy Rodman and Mr. Denham spoke and presented a flag that had flown over the Capitol and plaques and certificate, Pat O’Brien, from Representative Tom Berryhill’s office and she presented a certificate, Susan Donaldson from Sacramento, manager of Marketing for the U.S. Post Office who spoke and Heather Wright and Lisa Dolling representing the Army Corp Parks. Also in the audience were Lee Shearer, President of the History and Museum Associates, Vice-President Heather Voortman, Treasurer, Carol Davis and Curator Sharon Page. Dolly Haskell is the Postmistress. It is good to be back in business!

The Knights Ferry School’s Kindergarten and TK class held their Accomplishment Ceremony Tuesday evening. Those receiving certificates were: Paislee Barlow, Wyatt Birdsong, Alexa Bonson, Katee Conde, James Davis, Jasper Davis, Chase Dugo, Joseph Esteves, Hadley Gardner, Gabriella Gonzalez, Kersten Brooks, Pablo Martinez, Savanna McCarthy, Ulyzes Palafox, Bowen Sundberg, Jett Thompson, Sydney Turner, D’Angelo Watson-Sims and Taylor Witzke.

Sam Page, son of Robert and grandson of Gary and Sharon, graduated from Sonora High School and got the Outstanding Male Athletic Award. Way to go Sam!

Knights Ferry School held the Eighth Grade Graduation Wednesday, June 1st. Graduates were Alex Arias, Ivan Garcia, Destiny Machado Medina, Braden Sousa (4th generation KFS graduate) Jazzlynn Velasquez, Mikali Willis and Mathew Wolf. The gift to the school was a repainted basketball court, backstop with their names and new nets. Speaker was Ellen Wearin, who taught these students in Second Grade. Mrs. Holcomb who is retiring and Mrs. Headrick who is going to another school were given a proper sendoff.

At the Knights Ferry Community Club meeting those attending were in awe of the resurfaced hardwood floor and the waxed kitchen area. It is looking good!

Congratulations to Knights Ferry students who maintained a 4.0 average the WHOLE school year: Dylan Anderson, Hayden Cassaretto, Tate Cassaretto, Luke Dickens, Annabel Lee, Mason O’Neil, Hayden Sundberg, Denali Benson, Nicole Brunker, Olivia Doshas, Jude Krick and Matthew Wolf. Keep up the good work!
