The Knights Ferry Bobcats had their first day of school! The students walked up the sidewalk between two colorful ‘welcome’ banners and were greeted by the staff. The staff for the year consists of Dr. Skulina, Superintendent/Principal; Mrs. Ryan, Administrative Assistant; Mrs. Moore, kindergarten teacher; Mrs. Anderson, first and second grade teacher; Ms. Harbert, third grade teacher; Ms. Bailey Aksland, fourth grade teacher; Mrs. Hogan, fifth grade teacher; Ms. Miller, sixth grade teacher, Mr. Russell, seventh and eighth grade teacher; Mrs. Delgado, paraprofessional; Mrs. Dickens paraprofessional; and Mrs. Watson, custodian. Mrs. Watson has the campus looking fantastic and in tip top shape for the new school year!

Soon the fifth-eighth graders will begin practices for their flag football and volleyball season where they will compete against other small schools in the area and the whole school will plant pumpkins in the school garden for the fall season. The school farm currently has five goats and with the chicken coop looking ready for some new chickens!

Huxley Higgins was excited to play at recess. Huxley commented that now the fourth-eighth graders get to have recess together and then the kindergarten-third graders have recess at another time. Huxley is in fifth grade and has Mrs. Hogan as his teacher. Huxley had Mrs. Hogan during her first year with the school as a first grade teacher.

On Friday, August 5th, the town had a power outage from about 8:30am-1pm. During that time school was in session but the students were able to do some school work, play, and eat lunch outside!

At the Community Club meeting, Carol Davis read a thank-note card from the Club’s scholarship recipient, Hayden Cassarretto and Tracy Griesner shared that the Water Board is currently looking for a President. The President must be a volunteer who lives within town limits. The Water Board meets on the third Thursday of the month. Please contact Tracy Griesner for more information!
