The sun broke through the clouds as runners and walkers reported to the Cloverland Elementary School campus for the Seventh Annual SOS Fun Run on Saturday, March 12. The annual event welcomed close to 250 participants entered in the one mile and 5k race distances.
The SOS Fun Run has a focus of integrating family, community and movement while raising funds for Oakdale schools. Proceeds from the event benefit the Oakdale Educational Foundation (OEF), a 501 c3 non-profit that aids teachers and students through grant opportunities.
A final total of funds raised for the 2016 event has yet to be determined. In 2015 the event raised $10,000 for Oakdale schools. Organizers believe this year’s total will be close to the same.
Medals were awarded to the top three finishers by age group in each distance. Overall results are posted on the event’s website www.sosfunrun.com.
