There is just barely a week of summer break left for students in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District. The first day of school districtwide is set for Thursday, Aug. 7. While the elementary age students may fill this final week with backpack shopping or playdates, the upper grades are busy at their respective campuses.

Students of Oakdale Junior High and Oakdale High School will spend one of the next three days tending to business at student Round Ups for the two campuses.

Round Up details for the six grade levels are as follows: Wednesday, July 30, seventh grade 8 a.m.; eighth grade 12:15 p.m.; Thursday, July 31, OHS seniors 8 a.m.; juniors 1 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 1, OHS freshman orientation 7:30 a.m.; sophomores 8 a.m.; and freshman round up 1 p.m.

Kindergarten orientations will be hosted next week, Wednesday Aug. 6 at the following times and locations: Cloverland, 9 a.m.; Sierra View, 1 p.m.; Magnolia, 1:30 p.m. and Fair Oaks will host morning kindergarten students and Kindergarten Preparatory Academy at 10 a.m. with afternoon kindergarten students at 10:30 a.m.

Also, don’t forget the OHS Care Closet is still seeking donations of ‘back to school’ supplies for students that will need some help. Notebooks, binder paper, pens, folders, backpacks, even monetary donations to help students afford PE clothes are accepted. Donations can be dropped off at the counseling office at the high school or contact Dana Hernandez by phone, 848-7111, for more information.
