Knights Ferry School held its commencement ceremony on June 3, graduating 13 eighth graders. Each of the graduates had speaking parts in the ceremony.
The eighth grade graduates were Mario Arias, Jose Garcia, Sergio Garcia, Aleesha Harden, Clay Heffington, Lindsey Largent, Alondra Machado, Julia Nilsson, Ray Patton, Jordan Proch, Kylee Sisco, Julian Velasquez, and Megan Willis.
The flag salute was led by Kaeli Sweet. Alyssa Sisco sang the Star Spangled Banner. Mario Arias did the invocation, followed by Aleesha Harden and Julia Nilsson who did the welcome address. Kylee Sisco and Julia Velasquez introduced the school’s Board of Trustees.
Teacher Randy Russell also gave speech about the eighth grade. Kylee Siscon, Jordan Proch, and Megan Willis provided the theme speech. There were also speakers about the class history, a keynote speaker, the class wills, dedication to parents, class gift to the school, and thank you addresses prior to the presentation of diplomas.
Additionally, the school held a Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten accomplishment ceremony on June 2.
The students led the flag salute, followed by their singing “Grand Old Flag.” The teacher Melissa Holcomb welcomed everyone and recited the poem “Everything I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” by Robert Fulghum. She also said a few kind words about each student and presented them with a certificate. After she spoke about each child, the student’s parents stood and also said a few words about their child and why they were proud of them. The children who received their certificates were: Bryce Anderson, Charlee Birdsong, Maya Camara, Holly Conde, Maddy Dickens, Nicholas Gonzales, Joshua Maceira, Tristan McCarthy, and Tristan Voortman.
The event ended with the students singing “This Little Light of Mine.” After the ceremony they returned to the classroom for cookies and punch. They also presented Holcomb with a handmade quilt made by Heather Voortman where each square was personalized by each student.
