Oakdale Junior High Vice Principal Talmage Allen, left, was kept busy throughout the late morning and early afternoon as he drew and called names of lucky raffle winners.

The Oakdale Junior High School campus was all abuzz on Friday, Aug. 24 as a total of 13 clubs and organizations set up shop for Club Rush.

The annually hosted event aims at promoting campus clubs to increase student involvement on campus. This is the second year the event has been presented to the Ram student body.

“The goal of Club Rush is to promote campus clubs to students here at Oakdale Junior High, so that they can be involved in the junior high experience outside the classroom,” event organizer and teacher, Erin Benbow shared. “It builds relationships, focuses on community school services, and builds the bridge between clubs/organizations from junior high to high school.”

Both seventh and eighth grade levels are involved in the lunch time event offering ample opportunity to visit each of the booths and inquire on those of interest. Club advisers who are teachers in charge of the clubs offer guidance to the club officers who are students. Clubs typically meet on designated days during the lunch period or after school.

“The student body has a positive outlook to Club Rush, because they get an idea of all the available opportunities Oakdale Junior High has to offer,” Benbow said.
