Modesto gas prices have risen 11.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.25/gallon as of Monday, Jan. 25, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations. Gas prices in Modesto are 26.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 6.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $2.85/gallon Monday while the most expensive was $3.79/gallon, a difference of 94.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state was $2.39 while the highest was $4.29, a difference of $1.90/gallon.

The national average price of gasoline has risen 1.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.40/gallon. The national average is up 14.4 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 12.6 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.26/gallon, down 3.0 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.29; Oakland - $3.42, up 1.5 cents from $3.41; and San Jose - $3.45, up 2.0 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.43/gallon.

“While the national average remains at its highest level since the pandemic, increases are likely to slow down in the immediate short-term unless and until oil prices see renewed momentum,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “When it comes to demand, Pay with GasBuddy data showed last week’s gasoline demand at its highest level since November, another bullish factor as the nation continues to see slow improvement from the pandemic.”
