Police Seeking Driver In High-Speed Pursuit

A vehicle pursuit that ended with the vehicle abandoned on 26-Mile Road outside Oakdale on Aug. 29 has police seeking the driver who fled on foot.

According to police, the vehicle pursuit started on North Yosemite Avenue and A Street in the city of Oakdale when a patrol officer attempted a stop for vehicle code violations. During the pursuit, the driver is suspected of throwing a firearm from the vehicle in the area of East A Street and Valley View Drive. During the course of the pursuit, there was a minor collision as both the suspect and police officer were turning around.

The pursuit continued north on Yosemite Avenue and west on Highway 120 until California Highway Patrol and Escalon Police were notified, then Oakdale cancelled their involvement in the pursuit.

The vehicle was located abandoned in San Joaquin County.

The suspect is wanted for multiple felony violations, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony evasion.
