Oakdale police

Oakdale Police Department received a bomb threat to East Valley Education Center, 490 S. Fifth Ave., Oakdale at about 5:38 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12.

The caller and number came back as a blocked number. The school was not in session at the time of the call and the principal cancelled school activities for the day. No bomb or explosive device was located.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 5:55 a.m., the Oakdale Police Department received a call from what sounded to be the same male subject, who stated he was in a fight with his girlfriend and he was upset. The male subject went on to tell the dispatcher he was going to shoot up East Valley because that is where he met his girlfriend and he wanted to destroy every memory of her. The caller ended by hanging up on dispatch.

Through several resources and various telephonic and Internet traces, OPD dispatchers and investigators were able to obtain a suspect name, address and IP address in Modesto. Confirmation from the school cross referenced to a current student of East Valley Education Center. Several Oakdale Police Officers took the juvenile into custody without incident at his Modesto residence.

The 16-year-old male made the statement he just didn’t want to go to school as the reason for the threats.
