Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 8-10-22

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, July 26 through Monday, Aug. 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 8

Crews remain assigned to the fires in Northern California in Humboldt County. Crews are assigned to the Yreka area of the fires.

Crews performed weekly apparatus maintenance.

Station 29 assembled and mounted turn out lockers as part of their ongoing station projects.

Turlock Fire Captain rode with BC5. BC5 reviewed rural responses, water rescues, unified command with Cal-Fire and area familiarization.

5:12 a.m. (Tuesday) – E28, E27, Q22 and BC5 responded to the 300 block of West Greger for a smoldering fire within a piece of machinery. E28 was first on scene with nothing showing from a large commercial structure. E28 and E27 worked with maintenance to disassemble the machinery and extinguish smoldering insulation.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 7

Crews continue to assist with the fires in the northern part of the state. Crews are assigned to the McKinney Fire in Siskiyou County. Crews have been working 24 hour shifts.

Crews worked on station maintenance and cleaning throughout the day.

Crews conducted probationary firefighter training.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 6

MST units were assigned to 24 hours work period at the McKinney Fire in the Klamath National Forest. The fire is over 60,000 acres.

11:09 a.m. – Crews responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 108 near Lovers Leap east of Oakdale. Two vehicles were involved. Two people were transported to area hospitals; one by ground ambulance and a second by air ambulance.

12:42 p.m. – Engine 29, Engine 28, Engine 9, Battalion 5 responded to a vehicle accident involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 108 and Wamble Road east of Oakdale. There were two minor injuries. A vegetation fire started as a result of the accident. It was quickly extinguished.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 5

7:57 a.m. – B24, G23 and BC2 responded to the report of a vegetation fire in the 19000 block of Yosemite Boulevard. On arrival several spot fires were found as a result of the property owner burning weeds, all units returned.

9:54 a.m. – B24, G23 and BC2 responded to trees on fire in the 14000 block of Claribel Road. On arrival a smoldering controlled burn was found.

Crews continued with apparatus inventories and worked equipment and station maintenance.

8:35 p.m. – Stanislaus E26, Modesto E28 and BC5 responded to Terminal and Townsend for a vehicle accident with one person trapped. Crews arrived on scene and found two vehicles in a head on collision. Crews were able to quickly extricate one patient and the patient was quickly transported to an area hospital with major injuries. Firefighter E26 assisted with care while enroute to the hospital. Sheriff’s office was on scene investigating.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 4

4:39 a.m. – Engine 7, BC5 and Stanislaus Grass 26 responded to reports of a vegetation fire at Roselle Avenue and Claribel Road. Crews located an unattended burn pile and remained on scene to ensure no extension into other vegetation.

MST crews rotated through station 17 for quarterly EMS training.

MST units on Strike Team XST 4201C remain assigned to the McKinney Incident in Siskiyou County. The fire has burned over 58,000 acres.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 3

Crews rotated through quarterly EMS training at Station 17.

8:20 p.m. – E27 and BC5 responded to a vehicle accident in the 1300 block of West F Street in Oakdale with Oakdale PD and AMR. Minor injuries reported.

8:53 p.m. – E27 and BC5 responded back out to West F Street for a vehicle that struck a pedestrian. Moderate injuries reported; the pedestrian was an Oakdale Police sergeant directing traffic at the prior accident scene. The officer suffered a broken leg.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 2

Crews continued with the safety stand down. Crews reviewed crew safety and continued with 100 percent inventory of all apparatus and equipment.

MST units were assigned to 24 hours work period at the McKinney Fire in the Klamath National Forest. Crews were working in Branch 5, Division Z of the fire.

2:59 p.m. – Modesto E28 responded to a vehicle fire at South Yosemite and Armstrong Way. Crews arrived on scene and found a well involved vehicle fire with vehicle on the right shoulder. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire with no damage to the surrounding properties.

Oakdale units attended National Night Out in various places.

Crews attended National Night Out in Riverbank and Waterford.
