Oakdale Police, with assistance from the Ceres Police Department SWAT team, served a search warrant in the 300 block of South Third Avenue on Monday morning, Nov. 4, leading to the discovery of heroin, a stolen ATV, and a loaded handgun.

According to police, the search warrant was the result of information received from a confidential informant that the resident, Erasmo Lumbreras, 50, was selling heroin from the house.

Lumbreras is a convicted felon and was arrested as part of a multi-agency gang sweep in June when he was then in possession of heroin, methamphetamine, and hydrocodone for sale.

Around 8:30 a.m. Monday, the Ceres SWAT team performed a forcible entry into the residence and used a flash-bang device as a distraction. The flash-bang produces a blinding flash of light and loud noise to disorient the occupant’s senses without causing any permanent injury.

Police received several calls reporting an explosion in the area at the time.

The subsequent search produced 1.3 grams of heroin and a loaded .25 caliber pistol. As a convicted felon, Lumbreras is prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

During the search, police also found an all-terrain vehicle in the backyard of the residence that was previously reported as stolen.

“Heroin is making a comeback into the area,” said Oakdale Police Chief Lester Jenkins about the narcotic seized with the warrant. “We seem to be finding it more lately.”

Lumbreras was booked into Stanislaus County Jail for possession of narcotics, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and committing a felony while out on bail for a felony.
