An early Saturday morning accident left an Oakdale man facing felony driving under the influence and hit and run counts, after police found his vehicle a short distance from the incident.
According to police reports, the car driven by Vincent Helms, 23, of Oakdale struck and damaged a parked vehicle in the 1600 block of West J Street just after 1 a.m.
The car did not stop, but continued from the scene and was tracked down by officers, who found it on Cresta Court with major front end damage.
Police said a passenger, a 24-year-old from Oakdale, went to the hospital with a head wound as a result of the accident, so Helms was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI because of the injury.
Investigating officer Sgt. Ben Savage said a second passenger escaped injury.
