An Oakdale man was arrested by Tuolumne County Sheriff's detectives at his Hampton Court residence on Feb. 2 for several sex crimes

 

An Oakdale man was arrested by Tuolumne County Sheriff's detectives at his Hampton Court residence on Feb. 2 for several sex crimes, according to a March 2 press release issued from the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department.

Daniel Leon Clifton, 35, was arrested after a two-month long investigation into his alleged relationship with an underage female who resided in Tuolumne County. According to investigators, the relationship is suspected to have lasted for more than two years.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department began its investigation in 2014 when the girl came forward with evidence of the relationship existing since 2012.

Sheriff’s detectives stated they have gone through many items of evidence and have significant concerns that additional underage victims exist.

Clifton was arrested on Monday, Feb. 2 on felony charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation, human trafficking, and additional charges related to the manufacturing and exchanging of obscene images and videos. He is currently in custody at the Tuolumne County Jail and was being held on $500,000 bail.
